Eric Gillet Property developer jailed for fraud in BaliBali property news, the head of Australia developer the South Perth Chamber of Commerce, has been jailed for 2 years for fraud over a property deal / commitment,  that went wrong in Bali. Eric Gillet is the CEO of XANADU Resort for marketing sales department.  Denpasar’s Head judge Ketut Suarta said ” as a foreigner , Eric Gillet had not only ignored the property law but also had taken advantage and was convicted of defrauding two businessmen of IDR  6.7 billion ( it is about USD 686,000) in a Land and villa sales deal in the glitzy, Sub district of Seminyak – Bali.

Eric Gillet was arrested on his home at Seminyak in February 2016 and has been detained in Bali’s Kerobokan jail.  The judge sentenced him to two years’ prison, minus time already served on the court, He said the defendant was polite during the trial but his act had caused uneasiness in the community & cost the victims financially. Eric Gillet’s lawyer, Deyong, said that ” his client believed it was a civil case not a criminal case. Eric only breached the contract because the client failed to pay the balance / failed to finish the payment on the XANADU villas and wanted the money back halfway,”
